2. How Online Auctions Work at Kapow

How does an online auction work at Kapow?

All bidding takes place online. Each auction listing includes key information such as the machine condition, photos, location, reserve price, collection terms and auction end time.

All bids are binding. If a bid is placed shortly before the auction ends, the auction is automatically extended by 5 minutes.

How do I place a bid?

To place a bid, you must be registered and logged in. If you do not already have an account, registration is free of charge.

3. Payment and Collection

How do I pay for items I have won?

Your invoice will be sent to your email address on the first business day after the auction has ended. Once payment has been received and registered, you will receive a collection confirmation, which must be presented when collecting your items.

What should I do if I have not received my invoice?

If you have not received your invoice, please contact us as soon as possible. We also recommend checking your spam or junk mail folder.

How does collection work?

You are responsible for collecting the item yourself or arranging transportation. Collection must normally take place within 14 days of the auction closing date, unless specific collection days are stated in the auction listing.
Please ensure that your collection confirmation is presented at collection, as it serves as proof of payment. The confirmation will be sent by email and is also available in your Kapow account when logged in.

What happens if collection does not take place on time?

If an item is not collected within the specified collection period, Kapow Auctions reserves the right to transport the item to our facilities in Herning. Any costs related to transportation, storage and handling will be charged to the buyer and remain entirely at the buyer's risk.

4. Prices and VAT

What does it cost to buy through Kapow?

Each auction purchase is subject to a Buyer's Premium of 5% of the hammer price, with a minimum fee of DKK 100 and a maximum fee of DKK 5,000. In addition, a handling fee of DKK 300 per lot applies.

Before confirming your bid, you will always be shown the total amount payable, including all fees and VAT.

What is the reservation price?

The reservation price is the minimum price accepted by the seller.

If the reservation price is met, the item is sold to the highest bidder. If the reservation price is not met, Kapow will negotiate between the highest bidder and the seller. All bids remain legally binding for up to 48 hours after the auction has ended and the seller may choose to accept your highest bid even if the reservation price has not been met.

Why do I have to pay Danish VAT?

Foreign buyers are required to pay Danish VAT when purchasing through Kapow Auctions. As Kapow acts as an intermediary between buyer and seller, Danish and EU VAT regulations require proof that the machinery has been exported from Denmark before VAT can be refunded. An Export Declaration document is sent together with the invoice.

Can foreign businesses reclaim the VAT?

Yes. Once the machinery has left Denmark and Kapow has received the complete set of required export documents, the VAT can be refunded. The complete set of required export documents is required as proof of export.

What happens if I do not provide export documentation?

If Kapow does not receive the required export documents, Danish VAT cannot be refunded through Kapow. Any VAT recovery must then be handled by the buyer through their own VAT refund process.
